About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders within acute stroke and neurosciences services
- Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention in line with national guidelines
- Manage a defined caseload of patients with stroke and complex neurological conditions
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists
- Contribute to discharge planning and ongoing rehabilitation pathways
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
Requirements
- Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
- HCPC registration
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
- Established dysphagia competencies
- Experience with stroke and/or neurosciences caseloads in an acute setting
- Strong clinical reasoning and independent working skills
