Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults presenting with communication and swallowing disorders within acute stroke and neurosciences services
• Provide specialist dysphagia assessment and intervention in line with national guidelines
• Manage a defined caseload of patients with stroke and complex neurological conditions
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team including consultants, nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists
• Contribute to discharge planning and ongoing rehabilitation pathways
• Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation

Requirements

• Recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy
• HCPC registration
• Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT)
• Established dysphagia competencies
• Experience with stroke and/or neurosciences caseloads in an acute setting
• Strong clinical reasoning and independent working skills
