About the role
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end technical architecture of Subway’s AEM CMS platform, including component design, content modeling, and AEM-as-a-Cloud-Service deployment strategy.
- Architect and maintain a dual-mode CMS delivery model using headless AEM for React-based applications and AEM Edge Delivery Services for marketing web pages.
- Define AEM-side CDN and WAF architecture in partnership with Security and Infrastructure teams, focusing on Akamai caching and origin configuration.
- Collaborate with product, DevOps, and security teams to ensure CMS architecture aligns with the broader Guest Technology roadmap.
- Provide technical mentorship and architectural guidance to AEM developers and author architectural decision records (ADRs).
- Champion AI-assisted workflows and leverage modern engineering tools to accelerate architectural analysis and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of enterprise web technology experience, with at least 3 years in a senior AEM architect or lead engineer capacity.
- Deep expertise in AEM Sites as a Cloud Service, Content Fragments, and headless delivery patterns.
- Proven experience with AEM Edge Delivery Services for high-traffic web properties.
- Proficiency in React and experience with headless CMS architecture (GraphQL/REST APIs).
- Hands-on experience with Akamai CDN and WAF, including cache strategy and bot mitigation.
- Strong technical foundation in Java, Sling, OSGi, and Apache Felix.
Preferred Qualifications
- Adobe Certified Master (AEM Architect) or Adobe Certified Expert (AEM Sites Developer).
- Experience leading enterprise-scale CMS re-platforming or modernization programs.
- Experience with AEM multi-site management (MSM) and global content localization.
- Familiarity with Adobe Target and Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) for personalization.
