Admissions Counselor

Responsibilities

• Plan and participate in campus-wide outreach, including high school visits, college fairs, and recruitment events.
• Build and maintain relationships with high school counselors and community organizations to support enrollment pipelines.
• Counsel prospective students and their families on admission requirements, policies, scholarships, and financial aid concepts.
• Manage prospective student records using CRM software (Salesforce) to track outreach and follow-up.
• Review undergraduate applications and materials based on established University criteria.
• Represent the University of Michigan - Dearborn at various in-person and virtual recruitment activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
• Ability to travel and work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Sensitivity to working with multicultural populations and underrepresented groups.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in college admissions or student services.
• Basic understanding of FAFSA and financial aid processes.
• Knowledge of Metro-Detroit and Michigan communities.
• Experience developing and implementing recruitment strategies.
