Admission Counselor

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and implement recruitment activities within an assigned geographic area, including high school visits and college fairs.
• Conduct in-person and virtual information sessions and engagement activities for prospective students and their families.
• Perform scholarship and admission interviews with prospective students.
• Evaluate applications and provide input for the student candidate selection process.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with high school counselors, community partners, alumni, and prospective families.
• Articulate the university's brand and educational opportunities to diverse audiences.
• Manage administrative tasks such as travel expense reports and student inquiry follow-ups.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• Valid driver's license and the ability to travel extensively within Texas and across the United States.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, or similar office software.
• Ability to safely lift and transport materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends during peak recruitment cycles.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a Liberal Arts institution.
• Previous experience in an admissions setting as an undergraduate.
• Proficiency or fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
• Extensive knowledge of Southwestern University and its academic programs.
