About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal and external communication strategies to promote Town programs, services, and community engagement.
- Research, write, design, and edit various materials including newsletters, brochures, press releases, website content, and social media posts.
- Create professional graphics and publications using Adobe Illustrator and Canva while maintaining branding standards.
- Produce multimedia content, including photography and video, to support public information initiatives.
- Provide high-level administrative support to the Assistant Town Manager and departments such as Public Works and Planning.
- Prepare correspondence, reports, presentations, purchasing documents, and meeting materials.
- Coordinate and assist with Town-sponsored events, community outreach, and employee engagement activities.
- Maintain a professional presence in the office, providing customer service to residents, businesses, and visitors.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Proven experience in professional administrative support and communications/marketing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Canva, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Experience managing social media platforms and creating digital content.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including editing and proofreading.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
- Previous experience working in municipal or local government.
- Experience with photography, videography, and website content management systems.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
