About the role
Responsibilities
- Perform department-wide payroll processing, including COLA adjustments, step increases, and leave reconciliation
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including processing weekly payables, mileage reimbursements, and various municipal billings
- Monitor and track budget expenditures and prepare routine financial reports
- Coordinate human resources tasks such as employee onboarding, personnel actions, and maintaining departmental employee lists
- Handle insurance and workers' compensation claim processing
- Serve as the primary point of contact for departmental inquiries via telephone and in-person customer service
- Manage purchase orders, requisitions, and vendor communications to ensure accuracy
- Maintain organized physical and digital filing systems and manage office supply inventory
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 2-3 years of related accounting or clerical experience
- Proficiency in typing at least 30 wpm
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and mathematical computations
