About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide technical human resource advice and assistance to managers, supervisors, and employees regarding recruitment, selection, and benefits administration.
- Manage leave administration, including FMLA and NJ Family Leave Act, as well as Workers Compensation and tuition aid programs.
- Process payroll and perform audits to ensure the integrity of HR information systems, including classification and compensation.
- Facilitate training sessions and conduct new employee orientation sessions.
- Compile reports and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office applications.
- Compose routine and complex correspondence and maintain working relationships with state agencies and outside organizations.
- Assist with the preparation and audit of staff salary increases and participate in employee discipline and grievance processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three years of professional experience, including at least one year in payroll processing, benefits administration, salary administration, classification, labor/employee relations, training, recruitment, or EEO/Affirmative Action.
- Knowledge of HR practices and federal, state, and local government employment regulations.
- Strong communication, organizational, and mathematical reasoning skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a government or judicial setting.
- Proficiency in HR information systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
