About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the department’s personnel and financial operations, including grant management.
- Monitor the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office budget and provide regular financial status reports to the Sheriff and Chief Deputy.
- Prepare and review reports on personnel and financial matters to communicate performance results.
- Analyze workforce needs to develop short and long-range strategies and implement operational plans.
- Make recommendations regarding personnel, purchases, and other departmental expenditures.
- Develop and review contracts, memorandums of understanding, and interlocal agreements with outside entities.
- Serve as a direct or indirect resource for the department’s operational needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Eight (8) years of experience in a complex supervisory or managerial capacity associated with department-wide budgets.
- Valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to work hours that may not coincide with a standard Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm workday.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced experience in strategic business planning and organizational change strategies.
- Proficiency in using software applications for data analysis and problem-solving.
- Strong knowledge of Federal, State, and local laws regarding human resources and business services.
