About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day clinical operations for the Hematology Oncology unit, including staffing, budgets, and fiscal management
  • Supervise and motivate nurses, medical assistants, and other healthcare workers
  • Develop annual budgetary staffing plans to ensure safe patient care practices
  • Implement action plans for staff development and promote Shared Leadership governance
  • Direct unit-based quality improvement initiatives and monitor established quality metrics
  • Facilitate the planning and evaluation of educational experiences for staff and students
  • Advocate for patients, families, and the nursing profession while maintaining high standards of customer service

Requirements

  • Registered Professional Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
  • Three years of professional nursing experience (or two years plus one year of related advanced education)
  • Progressive management experience specifically in oncology
  • ONS Bio/Chemotherapy Certification
  • Current CPR certification
  • National certification through an ANCC approved certifier (or obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and intermediate computer skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN)
  • Previous supervisory experience in an outpatient ambulatory academic medical center
