About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide advanced administrative and operational support for the Department of Natural Sciences.
- Act as the primary point of contact for faculty, staff, students, and guests.
- Coordinate departmental meetings, retreats, workshops, seminars, and special events, including logistics and budget monitoring.
- Manage faculty affairs tasks, including appointment coordination, personnel documentation, and onboarding support.
- Handle financial operations such as procurement, reimbursements, P-Card reconciliations, and travel expense reporting.
- Assist with academic administration, including course scheduling and classroom coordination.
- Maintain departmental communications, including the website, newsletters, and promotional materials.
Requirements
- Associate degree.
- 4+ years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google Suites.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and experience in higher education administration.
- Experience with university travel, expense, and procurement policies.
- Proficiency with U-M administrative systems such as M-Pathways or Emburse.
- Experience in event planning and meeting coordination.
