About the role
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage incoming telephone calls and in-person inquiries for the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team
- Triage urgent concerns and facilitate communication between clients and clinical staff
- Maintain electronic calendars and enter patient appointment information into multiple databases
- Organize and maintain confidential electronic file retrieval systems and formats
- Provide word processing services for the production of complex medical documents
- Order and maintain program supplies and equipment to ensure efficient office operations
- Use sound judgment to escalate unusual or concerning client behaviors to appropriate clinical staff
Requirements
- Completion of a medical terminology course
- Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
- Post-secondary medical office administration diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of related medical administrative support experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) and experience with electronic scheduling tools
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a healthcare or teaching hospital environment
- Proficiency with MS Teams
