About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and clinical scheduling support to a multidisciplinary palliative care team
- Maintain electronic calendars and enter patient appointment information into multiple databases
- Coordinate and organize external community referrals
- Utilize medical terminology to produce complex documents and word-processing services
- Organize, modify, and maintain confidential electronic file retrieval systems
- Arrange small to mid-size formal and informal meetings and events
- Support physicians with tasks such as faxing prescriptions and drafting letters
- Collaborate with other administrative assistants to provide coverage and facilitate patient care
Requirements
- Completion of a medical terminology course
- Completion of Grade XII or recognized equivalent
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary medical office administration diploma or equivalent
- Three years of related medical administrative support experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word-processing, database, and spreadsheet software)
- Experience with electronic scheduling tools
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain and protect patient confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with MS Teams
- Experience working in a healthcare or teaching hospital environment
- Proficiency in a second language
