About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide secretarial support to attorneys, including transcribing correspondence, memoranda, and reports from dictation or rough drafts
- Create, edit, compile, and manage documents within the firm's document management system
- Prepare attorney time records, process bills, and perform billing reviews and edits
- Establish and maintain client and firm files while managing daily mail
- Maintain attorney calendars and deadline reminder systems
- Request conflict of interest checks and assist with secretarial overflow
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all attorney-client matters
Requirements
- Prior experience as a legal secretary, administrative assistant, or working within a law firm or legal department
- Proven ability to transcribe legal documents and correspondence accurately
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks under time constraints
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with clients and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using a document management system
- Experience with time entry systems
