Adjunct Instructor, Spanish

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned introductory and intermediate Spanish courses using evidence-based instruction practices.
• Provide a supportive learning environment and facilitate effective student learning.
• Adhere to departmental curricula, methods, practices, and lesson plans.
• Conduct regular student assessments and provide timely graded feedback on homework, quizzes, and exams.
• Maintain regular availability to meet with students through scheduled office hours.
• Utilize online learning systems and network resources for communication, grading, and assignment management.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Spanish language or a related field.
• Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
• Demonstrated ability to teach college-level Spanish within a communicative, proficiency-oriented framework.
• Proficiency in using educational technology, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems like Canvas.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching intermediate undergraduate Spanish courses at a U.S. college or university.
• Demonstrated ability to teach Spanish heritage speakers.
• Familiarity with the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

Benefits

• This is a part-time, adjunct position hired on a per-semester basis.
• Compensation is $1,400 per credit hour (or equivalent), approximately $4,200 per 3-credit lecture class.
• This position is not eligible for benefits.
