About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach applied voice lessons to undergraduate music majors and non-majors
- Prepare students for recitals, juries, and performances
- Teach academic music courses such as Music History, Literature, and Diction
- Mentor students in vocal development, repertoire selection, and performance practice
- Assist students with audition preparation and professional development
- Participate in departmental meetings, student juries, and recitals
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment
- Support student recruitment, retention, and mentoring
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Voice Performance, Voice Pedagogy, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in teaching applied voice
- Strong knowledge of vocal technique and standard vocal repertoire
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Music
- College-level teaching experience
- Experience teaching diction (e.g., Italian, German, French, or English lyric diction)
- Experience working with diverse vocal styles and student populations
- Familiarity with standard vocal literature and performance practices
