About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses including Elementary Spanish I, Intermediate Spanish I, or Spanish & Latin American Film.
- Deliver engaging, inclusive, and effective instruction using student-centered and communicative pedagogical approaches.
- Design syllabi, course materials, assessments, and learning activities aligned with departmental outcomes.
- Maintain regular communication with students and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Hold limited office hours and foster a supportive learning environment for a diverse student body.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field (must be completed by the start date).
- Demonstrated proficiency in both Spanish and English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching Spanish and/or Hispanic Studies at the college level.
- Ability to teach upper-division courses in literature, culture, linguistics, film, or history.
- Experience using communicative and proficiency-based language teaching methods.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-impact, student-centered pedagogical practices and inclusive teaching.
