Adjunct Instructor, Medical Spanish

Responsibilities

• Teach assigned Medical Spanish courses, including Medical and Public Health Spanish and Introduction to Medical Interpretation
• Use evidence-based instruction practices to provide a supportive and effective learning environment
• Adhere to departmental curricula, lesson plans, and University policies regarding class instruction
• Conduct regular student assessments and provide timely graded feedback on homework, quizzes, and exams
• Maintain regular availability for student meetings by holding scheduled office hours
• Utilize online learning management systems (Canvas) and other network resources for course administration

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Spanish language or a related field
• Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
• Documented professional command of medical terminology in both Spanish and English
• Experience teaching advanced undergraduate Spanish courses

Preferred Qualifications

• Substantial professional experience working in healthcare settings (clinical, public health, or community health)
• Professional experience in medical interpretation, including sight translation and consecutive interpretation
• Prior experience teaching medical Spanish or Spanish for the professions at the college level
• Familiarity with the National Standards of Practice for Interpreters in Health Care and the IMIA Code of Ethics
