Adjunct Instructor, English as a Second Language

Responsibilities

• Teach one to two classes in the Intensive English Program (IEP) or Pathways program using a communicative approach
• Generate lesson plans, learning assessments, and progress reports according to ELC guidelines
• Review student work, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate attendance records
• Manage course materials, syllabi, and grades via the Canvas LMS
• Hold weekly office hours to support student academic and personal needs
• Collaborate with ELC faculty and attend required coordination and level meetings

Requirements

• M.A., M.Ed., or M.A.T. in ESL, TESL, TESOL, Applied English Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field
• Two years of experience teaching intensive English or English for academic purposes to multilingual adult learners
• Experience with testing, assessment, and evaluation of student learning
• Proficiency in using educational technology and LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas or Blackboard)
• Advanced proficiency in spoken and written English
• Eligibility to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience teaching intensive English or academic English to adult learners
• Experience helping multilingual learners develop critical writing skills and academic citation formatting (APA, MLA, Chicago)
• Experience teaching first-year university composition courses
• Personal experience learning a second language
