Adjunct Instructor, Civil Engineering

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver assigned undergraduate and/or graduate Civil and Environmental Engineering courses
• Develop instructional materials, syllabi, assignments, and examinations
• Evaluate student learning and performance, maintaining course records and submitting grades according to university deadlines
• Maintain regular communication with students and the department regarding course-related matters
• Engage and mentor students to foster a supportive and student-centered learning environment
• Attend required meetings and complete administrative responsibilities associated with assigned courses

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate and/or graduate engineering courses
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Proven ability to effectively engage and mentor students
• Commitment to fostering a respectful and student-centered learning environment
• Ability to lift 25 lbs and perform physical tasks such as walking between buildings and climbing stairs

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous college-level teaching experience
• Professional engineering industry experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Experience using learning management systems and instructional technology
• Expertise in specialized areas such as structural, geotechnical, environmental, transportation, water resources, construction, or surveying
