About the role
Responsibilities
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate nursing students during clinical rotations at area hospitals, nursing homes, and community health centers
- Conduct on-campus laboratory sessions in practice, simulation, or graduate nursing labs
- Assign patients to student nurses while maintaining strict safety protocols
- Supervise all aspects of patient and client care provided by students
- Conduct pre- and post-clinical conferences
- Evaluate clinical performance at midpoint and end-of-semester and grade all clinical assignments
- Develop engaging, learner-centered lesson plans based on educational theory and evidence-based practices
- Attend faculty meetings at least once per semester and assist with exam proctoring as needed
Requirements
- Doctoral or Master’s degree in nursing
- Active New York State Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner licensure
- Current CPR certification
- Up-to-date immunizations
- Current clinical expertise in the assigned area of teaching
- Ability to function with minimal direct supervision in stressful clinical situations
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in higher education instruction
