About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly one-on-one applied instruction to music majors, minors, and non-majors in voice, piano, or flute
  • Prepare students for juries, recitals, ensemble performances, and other performance opportunities
  • Maintain regular communication with students regarding progress, goals, and expectations
  • Collaborate with ensemble directors and other faculty to support student performance within the department
  • Submit grades according to established deadlines
  • Lead a weekly studio voice class (for applied voice positions)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music
  • Experience teaching applied lessons in voice, piano, or flute

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and ability to respond to the academic needs of learners from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience teaching college-age musicians
  • For applied piano, the ability to accompany instrumentalists in their recitals and juries
