About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach an undergraduate course focused on the history of the recording industry, from the invention of the phonograph to contemporary digital and emerging technologies
- Introduce students to U.S. copyright law as it applies to musical compositions and sound recordings
- Address topics such as copyright ownership, duration, infringement, reversion rights, and evolving legal frameworks
- Engage students in analysis of current music industry issues, including artificial intelligence and recent copyright cases
- Develop and maintain course materials, syllabi, and assessments aligned with departmental and university standards
- Support efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Professional experience working in the music industry
- Expertise in music publishing and music copyright
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment
