About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach laboratory content for biology courses designed for both majors and non-majors
- Instruct students on the application of various biological laboratory techniques
- Select appropriate textbooks and teaching aids necessary for laboratory instruction
- Supervise and maintain laboratory equipment and facilities
- Grade student assignments and weekly laboratory reports
- Oversee laboratory safety during sessions, preparation, and clean-up
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biological Sciences from an accredited institution
- Practical experience with techniques such as microscopy, gram staining, bacterial cultures, EKG, or dissections
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population of students
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience teaching in a college or university laboratory setting
- Knowledge of and commitment to the university’s philosophy and mission
