About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach the first-year introductory biology course, "Scientific Discovery: Phage Hunting," which serves as a course-based undergraduate research experience (CURE).
- Lead students through a semester-long project involving the isolation and characterization of phages sampled from the environment.
- Instruct students on common biology and microbiology laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Prepare course materials consistent with departmental learning objectives.
- Provide timely grading, feedback, and academic guidance to support student success.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in biology or a related field (MD, DO, etc., will also be considered).
- Proficiency in microbiology and biology laboratory techniques.
- Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University.
- Ability to teach both lecture and laboratory components.
- Ability to move around a classroom or laboratory setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching introductory biology courses at the college level.
- Subject matter expertise or teaching experience in microbiology, cell biology, or related fields.
