Adjunct Faculty - Applied Technology (Construction)

Responsibilities

• Instruct students in theoretical and hands-on aspects of residential and commercial construction
• Prepare instructional materials and develop or select appropriate curriculum for assigned courses
• Assess student progress through timely grading and required record keeping
• Teach day and/or evening classes and labs in accordance with university and departmental policies
• Uphold university values and maintain professional behavior in classrooms and lab spaces
• Stay current with industry trends, trade skills, and new technologies

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a construction management related field
• Demonstrated knowledge and competencies in relevant trade areas
• Ability to develop industry-standard curriculum
• Experience with current skill/trade practices and trends
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a construction management related field
• Successful college-level teaching experience
• Valid General Contractors license
• Recent professional work experience in the construction industry
• Knowledge of Tennessee health and safety regulations and OSHA standards
• Formal training or continuing education in specific trades or educational theory
