Adjunct - Criminal Justice Department

Responsibilities

• Provide academic instruction to undergraduate and graduate students through lectures, labs, or distance-mediated settings
• Assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills through appropriate assignments and activities
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills
• Observe and evaluate student performance in meeting course objectives and learning outcomes
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and university mission/goals
• Maintain accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student academic progress, and curriculum
• Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, and software

Requirements

• Master's degree from a graduate institution of recognized standing or equivalent professional experience
• Thorough knowledge of current theory and practice within the criminal justice discipline
• Demonstrated understanding of effective teaching principles and best practices
• Ability to deliver course curricula to various learning styles
• Sensitivity to the diverse academic, social, economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of students
