Additive Manufacturing Design Engineer II

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and manufacture of advanced LPBF metal additive manufacturing components
• Drive DfAM activities to improve performance, manufacturability, and part consolidation
• Define build strategies including orientation, support methodology, segmentation, and parameter selection
• Diagnose and resolve complex AM manufacturing issues such as distortion, residual stress, and process instability
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to mature components from concept through manufacture
• Develop scalable AM workflows, standards, and engineering best practices

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Materials Engineering
• Strong experience with metal additive manufacturing, particularly LPBF
• Deep understanding of DfAM principles and AM process physics
• Proficiency in CAD software such as NX, Solidworks, or Creo
• Ability to work independently and drive technical activities in demanding environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, propulsion, defense, or high-performance engineering
• Expertise in thermal distortion mitigation and support optimization
• Familiarity with process development and qualification activities
• Experience with CFD simulation or AM simulation tools
• Knowledge of parameter development and scan strategy optimization
