About the role
Responsibilities
- Lead the assessment, investigation and early management of acutely unwell patients in the AMU
- Perform ward rounds and coordinate discharge planning, escalation and specialty referrals
- Supervise and support junior doctors (SHOs, CT2s) and other medical staff
- Participate in teaching, training, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives
- Contribute to clinical guideline development and ensure evidence-based practice
- Maintain high standards of patient safety and governance
Requirements
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with licence to practise
- Specialist training in General (Internal) Medicine / Acute Medicine or equivalent
- Previous NHS experience (at least 6 months)
- Experience in acute medicine, including the acute take and ward rounds
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
- MRCP (or equivalent)
