Acute Medicine Registrar

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment, investigation and early management of acutely unwell patients in the AMU
• Perform ward rounds and coordinate discharge planning, escalation and specialty referrals
• Supervise and support junior doctors (SHOs, CT2s) and other medical staff
• Participate in teaching, training, clinical audit, and quality improvement initiatives
• Contribute to clinical guideline development and ensure evidence-based practice
• Maintain high standards of patient safety and governance

Requirements

• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with licence to practise
• Specialist training in General (Internal) Medicine / Acute Medicine or equivalent
• Previous NHS experience (at least 6 months)
• Experience in acute medicine, including the acute take and ward rounds
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• MRCP (or equivalent)
