Acute Inpatient Registered Nurse

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in various modalities including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT), apheresis, and ultrafiltration
• Assess patient responses to treatment and make appropriate adjustments to treatment plans in coordination with physicians
• Supervise and provide direction to Patient Care Technicians and clerical staff
• Collaborate with hospital ICU staff to provide education and direction regarding CRRT
• Accurately document all treatment information in patient records and hospital systems
• Perform machine safety tests, equipment calibration, and disinfection of dialysis equipment
• Manage intradialytic transfusions and monitor for adverse reactions
• Act as a subject matter expert for hospital staff regarding dialysis-related complications

Requirements

• Current state nursing licensure
• One year of Registered Nurse (RN) experience
• Minimum of 6 months of nephrology experience
• BLS CPR Recognition
• Strong assessment skills related to critically ill patients
• Ability to participate in an on-call rotation including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting and moving of equipment

Preferred Qualifications

• ICU experience
• Certification in Nephrology Nursing or Apheresis Nursing
• ACLS CPR Recognition
• Successful completion of Progressive Renal Education Preparation
