Acute Inpatient Patient Care Technician - PCT

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients in an acute inpatient setting under the supervision of a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse.
• Set up, prime, and test dialysis equipment to ensure it is safe for treatment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company policy.
• Monitor patient well-being, including obtaining pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights.
• Calculate and enter individual patient dialysis machine programming, such as Ultrafiltration (UF) goals and treatment times.
• Document all patient information, incidents, and treatment details accurately in the hospital Electronic Medical System (EMS) and Acute Care Electronic System (ACES).
• Collect and label specimens for timely laboratory delivery.
• Assist with the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment and participate in quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain CCHT certification within 18 months of hire.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including standing for prolonged periods, bending, and assisting with the movement of patients and heavy equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 months of experience in a related field such as EMT, Surgical Technician, Phlebotomist, or military medical roles.
