Acute Inpatient Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy for assigned patients in an acute inpatient setting under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and evaluate access for patency.
• Obtain and record pre- and post-treatment vital signs, weights, and treatment parameters.
• Set up, prime, and program dialysis equipment, including calculating Ultrafiltration (UF) goals and sodium modeling.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report any unusual findings, complaints, or incidents to the RN.
• Collect and label laboratory specimens according to facility policy.
• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean working environment and participate in quality improvement activities.
• Discontinue dialysis treatments following established procedures and ensure proper hemostasis.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) certification.
• 1–2 years of related experience in a clinical or dialysis setting.
