Acute Inpatient Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients in an acute inpatient setting under the supervision of a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse
• Set up, prime, and test dialysis equipment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company policy
• Monitor patient vital signs and weight before, during, and after treatment, reporting any unusual findings to the RN
• Document patient treatment information accurately in hospital Electronic Medical Systems (EMS) and Acute Care Electronic Systems (ACES)
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming, including Ultrafiltration (UF) goals and treatment times
• Collect and label specimens for timely delivery to the laboratory
• Assist in maintaining a safe, clean working environment and participate in quality improvement activities

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Ability to obtain CCHT certification within 18 months of hire
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with moving heavy equipment or patients

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 months of experience in a related field such as EMT, Surgical Technician, Phlebotomist, or military medical roles
