Acute Inpatient Patient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy for assigned acute inpatient patients under the supervision of an RN.
• Set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies, including hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and evaluate access for patency.
• Monitor patient vital signs, weight, and treatment parameters before, during, and after treatment.
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for ultrafiltration goals, treatment time, and sodium modeling.
• Collect and label laboratory specimens for timely delivery.
• Monitor patient response to therapy and report any unusual findings or changes in status to the RN.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and productive working environment in compliance with company and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• CCHT certification is required.
• Minimum of 18 months of dialysis experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid PCT national or state-specific certification as defined by CMS.
