Acute Inpatient Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN - Dialysis

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy for acute inpatient patients under the supervision of a registered nurse
• Perform vascular access evaluation and cannulation, and monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy
• Set up, operate, and maintain hemodialysis machines, including performing required safety and alarm checks
• Administer medications, including intravenous treatments, in accordance with physician orders and state laws
• Document accurate and timely patient information, including vital signs, treatment parameters, and progress notes
• Assist in the clinical orientation, training, and precepting of direct patient care personnel
• Support infection control practices and participate in Quality Assurance Indicator (QAI) audits
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to educate patients and families regarding renal disease and treatment

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing
• Current state licensure (LPN/LVN)
• Valid CPR certification
• Intravenous (IV) Certification if required by state law
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• At least five years of patient care experience in a hospital setting or a related facility
• Participation in Leading with Values and Patient Experience workshops
