Acute Inpatient Care Technician

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for assigned patients in an acute inpatient setting under the supervision of a Hemodialysis Registered Nurse.
• Set up, prime, and test dialysis equipment to ensure it is safe for treatment in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company policy.
• Monitor patient well-being, including obtaining pre- and post-treatment vital signs and weights.
• Document all patient information, treatment details, and unusual incidents accurately in the hospital Electronic Medical System (EMS) and Acute Care Electronic System (ACES).
• Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration (UF) goals, treatment time, and sodium modeling.
• Collect and label specimens for timely delivery to the laboratory.
• Assist with the discontinuation of treatment, including obtaining hemostasis and applying appropriate dressings.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment and participate in quality improvement activities.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to obtain CCHT certification within 18 months of hire.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with moving heavy equipment or patients.
• Ability to stand for prolonged periods and perform tasks involving bending and reaching.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 months of experience in a related field such as EMT, Surgical Technician, Phlebotomist, or military medical roles.
