Actuarial Analyst

Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and reconcile data from multiple sources to ensure accuracy and consistency for actuarial and financial reports.
• Prepare routine financial and actuarial reports for self-funded clients, including claim reporting, rate setting, and plan design modeling.
• Build and maintain actuarial models to analyze and project medical/Rx loss trends and client plan performance.
• Utilize modeling tools to estimate the impact of health plan design changes, regulatory changes, and health reform on client costs.
• Create spreadsheets, graphs, and visualization tools to communicate healthcare-related insights and trends to clients.
• Support the development of health plan reserve estimates and produce custom analytics for unique client requests.
• Collaborate with client service and actuarial teams to deliver comprehensive financial reporting and insights.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or a related quantitative field.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, and data manipulation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills to support multiple client relationships.
• Legal right to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of health benefits experience at a brokerage, consulting firm, or insurance carrier.
• Completion of actuarial exams (candidates with 2 or more exams are encouraged to apply).
• Interest in pursuing an ASA designation.
• Knowledge of VBA, SQL, Python, or similar programming languages.
• Working knowledge of employee benefits, health insurance, or risk concepts.
