Activities Assistant

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and implementation of an innovative seven-day-a-week activity program
• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities according to the schedule
• Support, encourage, and direct independent activity pursuits for residents
• Demonstrate knowledge of residents regarding their background, interests, physical abilities, and cognitive capacity
• Encourage and motivate residents to participate in programming and activities
• Communicate changes in resident condition or behavior patterns to the Harbor Care Director
• Ensure resident safety by staying with groups at all times during excursions

Requirements

• High school diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of aging and disability issues
• Training and knowledge in recreational activities
• Training and knowledge of Alzheimer's and related dementias
• Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality regarding residents and staff
• Strong ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work well under pressure
