Acquisitions Officer II

Responsibilities

• Acquire documentary programming and source high-quality unscripted content for broadcast and digital platforms
• Establish and maintain relationships with distributors, independent producers, and sales representatives
• Provide editorial feedback on TVO Originals during development and production, including scripts and rough cuts
• Liaise with producers to ensure programs deliver on creative intent and meet content standards
• Screen and evaluate potential acquisitions, pre-buys, and co-productions
• Assist in developing programming strands, managing schedules, and maximizing inventory value
• Advise Business Affairs on negotiation parameters and secure best programming value within budget
• Create content schedules, maintain inventory reports, and provide SEO-optimized metadata

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in television or film programming or production
• Direct experience in unscripted programming
• Solid understanding of the independent production industry
• Strong storytelling instincts and ability to assess projects at all production stages
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• University or college education with a focus on media
• Strong organizational skills and effective communication abilities
