Accounts Payable Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process and enter invoices, expense reimbursements, advances, stipends, and purchasing requests for accuracy.
• Perform day-to-day accounts payable functions in accordance with existing policies and generally accepted accounting principles.
• Reconcile accounts and research incomplete documentation from vendors to ensure proper backup documentation is maintained.
• Scan and index accounts payable documentation into the cloud storage database.
• Complete and supervise journal entries to record or allocate revenue and expenses to appropriate cost centers.
• Perform monthly reconciliations and monitor the accuracy of general ledger and subsidiary ledger entries.
• Prepare and supervise the preparation of audit workpapers for the fiscal year audit.
• Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and vendors regarding payment inquiries.
• Train and supervise accounting staff in new policies and procedures.

Requirements

• B.A. in Business, Accounting, or equivalent work experience.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role.
• Strong work ethic and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Strong organizational, time management, and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
