Accounts Payable Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Review and process invoices and supporting documentation for payment
• Verify that adequate budgeted funds are available for payments
• Ensure expenditures are recorded against the appropriate general ledger accounts
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in invoices and documentation
• Communicate with various departments to resolve invoice-related matters
• Maintain knowledge of Hidalgo County Purchasing Policies and Procedures
• Ensure legal compliance with state statutes, contracts, and internal policies

Requirements

• Associate of Applied Science in Accounting or two years of accounts payable experience
• Valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Typing speed of 50 words per minute with accuracy
• Ability to use a 10-key numeric keypad efficiently
• Ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier
