Accounts Payable Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process institutional expenditures with accuracy, ensuring proper approvals, documentation, and compliance with university policies.
• Prepare payments and maintain strong relationships with vendors and campus partners.
• Monitor invoice processing within Workday and maintain/update supplier records.
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and support key financial functions including 1099 reporting and year-end audits.
• Assist with sales tax preparation, unclaimed property filings, and other Business Office projects as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with various university departments.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of accounts payable experience, specifically in a business or educational setting.
• Familiarity with Workday and Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of 1099 regulations and South Carolina tax requirements.
• Strong customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and complete multiple simultaneous projects within deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge equivalent to that gained through a bachelor’s degree.
