About the role
Responsibilities
- Receive, generate G/L coding, and enter accounts payable invoices into the accounting system
- Ensure review and authorization of invoices prior to entry
- Prepare all payment disbursements and G/L postings in accordance with company policies
- Match payments to cheques and/or EFTs and obtain necessary authorizations for release
- Generate reports regarding payment status and maintain electronic/hard copy filing systems
- Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and manage vendor inquiries
- Prepare bank reconciliations and provide supporting documentation for annual audits
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or completion of 3rd year of a degree program in a related field
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting principles and previous administrative experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of and appreciation for Indigenous culture
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with various stakeholders
- Ability to pass a Criminal Records check (CPIC)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Windows-based accounting systems
- Current, valid Ontario Driver’s Licence and a safe driving record
