Accounts Payable Accountant

Responsibilities

• Process and verify invoices for payment, ensuring legitimacy of charges and compliance with college policies
• Monitor and track outgoing expenses, recording all transactions in the accounting system
• Generate regular expense reports to identify spending patterns and support financial decision-making
• Manage vendor relations by acting as the primary contact for invoice discrepancies and payment queries
• Schedule and process payments according to agreed terms to maintain strong business relationships
• Maintain compliance with financial regulations and ensure all documentation is properly filed for audits
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure accurate and timely payment processing

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a closely related field
• 5 to 7 years of experience in accounting, accounts payable, or a related field with demonstrated increased responsibility
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Knowledge of Microsoft Access, OneDrive, and SharePoint
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in higher education or a closely related field
• Experience with Jenzabar or other higher education ERP systems
