Accountant

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly financial close processes accurately and on time
• Execute accounting activities in compliance with GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
• Prepare reports, schedules, variance analyses, and journal entry documentation
• Monitor and reconcile assigned accounts to ensure accurate financial statement presentation
• Ensure inventory-related transactions are appropriately documented and meet re-performance standards
• Support Materials Accounting field personnel during physical inventories
• Provide accounting support to Supply Chain and Plant personnel as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in Accounting
• Minimum of 6 months of professional accounting experience
• Understanding of GAAP, FERC, SEC, and other regulatory reporting requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the use of functions and formulas
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaborating across departments

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Accounting
• Professional accounting certification
• Proficiency with Southern Company financial applications such as Oracle, Maximo, or SOAR
