Accountant

Responsibilities

• Perform general accounting functions up to trial balance, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Maintain the company's fixed asset register, including recording acquisitions, disposals, and monthly depreciation
• Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual tax returns to SARS (EMP201, VAT201, EMP501) via the e-Filing platform
• Complete general ledger reconciliations by the 15th of each month and resolve any discrepancies
• Monitor hire-purchase and leased vehicle transactions, including IFRS16 schedule preparation
• Support the annual audit process by preparing audit files, schedules, and reconciliations
• Manage employee salary advances and ensure monthly reconciliation of loan accounts
• Prepare and submit STATS_SA returns and other statutory requirements within required deadlines

Requirements

• B.Com Accounting degree or equivalent
• 5 years of working experience in an accounting environment
• Proven experience with SARS e-Filing (VAT, PAYE, UIF, and SDL)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with ERP systems and automated accounting instructions
• Strong analytical and management reporting skills
• Ability to maintain productive relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders like banks and auditors
