Accountant

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial entries to account for refinery expenses and other financial activities
• Participate in monthly financial closeout activities, including account reconciliations and SOX controls
• Analyze actual results and prepare reports for assigned areas of responsibility
• Assist in the development of the refinery’s annual expense budget and monthly updates
• Perform analysis of actual versus budgeted expenditures
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems, procedures, or financial applications
• Support special projects and provide backup for other accounting functions as required
• Communicate effectively with refinery personnel, management, and other accounting departments

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Two years of professional Accounting or Finance experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Ability to travel periodically between Mandan and Dickinson locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous MPC Refinery Accounting experience
• Experience working with large ERP systems (such as SAP)
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools like Power BI
