About the role
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary point of contact for students and parents regarding student finance, billing, collections, and Federal Perkins loans.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts including tuition, returned checks, and other University accounts receivable to ensure repayment.
- Provide financial counseling by evaluating financial standing and brainstorming appropriate payment arrangements and schedules.
- Perform collection activities such as skip tracing, placing phone calls, and sending correspondence to locate students or parents.
- Manage Federal Perkins Loan cohort rates by working with students to rehabilitate delinquent loans and processing forbearances or hardships.
- Assist the Bursar’s Office with incoming phone calls, live chat, and emails to meet service metric standards.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree.
- 1-2 years of experience in credit, collections, or customer service within the finance industry (or an equivalent combination of experience).
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Understanding of basic accounting concepts, loans, and credit.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new software packages.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
