Account Clerk

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, repetitive clerical and accounting tasks including computing, classifying, and verifying numerical data
• Reconcile accounts, records, and documents to ensure financial records remain complete
• Examine and verify entries, postings, and totals for accuracy and ensure supporting documentation is included
• Post entries in cash books, journals, ledgers, and other financial records
• Prepare records of cash receipts, disbursements, vouchers, and invoices
• Perform routine arithmetic calculations, including extensions, percentages, and discounts
• Maintain continuous records of merchandise, material, equipment, and stock on hand
• Review expense accounts for budgetary limitations and refer discrepancies to senior staff
• Assist in collecting and compiling data for budget requests and financial statements
• Provide routine information to the public in person and over the telephone
• Maintain standardized double-entry bookkeeping records and established files

Requirements

• Ability to perform routine arithmetic calculations and clerical tasks
• Proficiency in learning electronic and manual recording and information systems
• Possession of a valid New Jersey driver's license (only if vehicle operation is required for essential duties)
