Accessioning Technologist II

Responsibilities

• Receive, unpack, and verify the condition of incoming patient samples and documentation.
• Perform accurate data entry into the CRM system, including labeling computer-generated identification numbers.
• Upload relevant documentation and intake forms to maintain a complete audit history.
• Route samples into appropriate workflows and alert downstream staff of sample availability.
• Maintain specimen integrity and identification throughout the accessioning process.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with CLIA, CAP, and Good Documentation Practice (GDP) requirements.
• Collaborate with Client Services and other departments to resolve demographic or documentation discrepancies.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 2-4 years of experience in a regulated industry, logistics, or clinical setting.
• OR an Associate's Degree in biological or life sciences with 1+ years of relevant experience.
• OR a Bachelor's Degree in biological or life sciences.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent computer/data entry skills.
• Ability to work in a laboratory environment using chemicals and reagents.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience working in an accessioning department within a CLIA-certified laboratory.
• 3+ years of professional experience with accessioning or anatomic pathology.
• Prior experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Knowledge of medical terminology, specifically regarding anatomic pathology specimen descriptions.
• Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy.
