Accessioning Technologist I

Responsibilities

• Receive, unpack, and verify the condition of incoming patient samples and documentation.
• Perform accurate data entry into the CRM system, including labeling samples with computer-generated identification numbers.
• Upload relevant documentation and intake forms to maintain a complete audit history.
• Route samples into appropriate workflows and alert downstream staff of sample availability.
• Maintain specimen integrity and follow strict data governance and compliance guidelines.
• Address inquiries from Client Services to ensure a high-quality customer experience.
• Adhere to Good Documentation Practice (GDP) and regulatory standards including CLIA and CAP.
• Work in a laboratory environment involving the use of chemicals and reagents.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of experience in logistics, science, technology, or a regulated clinical setting.
• OR an Associate degree, specifically in biological or life sciences.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in computer systems and data entry.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated laboratory environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in an accessioning department within a CLIA-certified laboratory or clinical diagnostics setting.
• Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
• Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly regarding anatomic pathology.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under tight timelines.
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of patient data privacy.
